…”And where there is water, there is life! Sit by the banks of the river, and sing me, rāga Megha!”

Raga Megh Malhar is a monsoon raga. It is played when, after a very warm summer, the earth has cracked, the leaves of the trees have turned yellow, and the earth and all living beings cry for water. I have always found this rag very dense, alive and relaxing. To me it is for the soul like water for the dry and thirsty earth. It has the power to smooth harsh feelings and emotions. It washes away the dirt and gives the power to flower again.
In a way to me this is a prayer to the water that brings life, and a message to all human beings to be more respectful and conscious of how precious this element is to us and to life on earth.
A homage to this blue planet in the universe.

Infinite thanks to my family for supporting me, to my Guru’s Gundecha Brothers who guide me on the path of Dhrupad, and to Igino Brunori for being always by my side.
